AWL-Techniek ensures global productivity

23 May 2017

On May 17 and 18, 2017, AWL organized its ‘AWL Tech Days’ for the ninth time. Customers from all over the world traveled to Harderwijk for a Lunch2Lunch meeting.

As production is becoming increasingly more global and the world continues to change at a rapid pace, we see that new developments, cultural differences, the economic climate and politics all have a huge impact on our day-to-day business; the key is to stay on track, now and in the future. During the AWL Tech Days, customers gained interesting insights and were able to contribute to discussions. With interesting speakers, innovative projects in the AWL R&D Fieldlab, an interactive shop floor tour and great networking opportunities, the AWL Tech Days were again a great success.

From AWL there were presentations from the R&D department about topics regarding machine software, modular fixture design and plenty of demonstrations in the Fieldlab regarding augmented reality, virtual reality, HMI (Human Machine Interface) design and messaging, etc. AWL also talked about the world ahead. What will be the game changers and how can we adapt to them?

Besides the AWL presenters, there were also various guest speakers such as Trumpf, SKS, Brose Automotive and Joep Hofhuis, professor at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. They all focused on dealing with production on a global scale. How can you overcome (cultural) differences, local requirements/legislation in order to be successful around the globe?

One of the highlights of the Tech Days was the factory tour. Customers were given a tour of the various interesting projects in which AWL is now involved. A large number of automotive projects were shown, including machines for the production of body structure parts such as the door frame, A-pillar, wishbone and rear seats. Finally the CTO (Configure to Order) principle was explained by showing a modular laser cell which is used for the production of various different car seat elements.

AWL looks back with pleasure on two successful, interesting and inspiring days! One thing is certain: AWL will be organizing this network event again in 2018.
